stories

i have many stories to tell from my travels, as well as big life changes that are happening but sadly the last thing i feel like doing is sitting in front of this thing and typing.  instead i am going to crawl into my warm bed and fall asleep listening to This American Life while snuggling with H & M.

sweet dreams!

if i wasn't planning on quiting my job and fleeing the country for a few months of travel and soul searching i might consider spending a few days creating art with these women

middle passage

there were so many amazing books i read as a young person -- i was a lucky girl to have people give me inspirational books and take me to the library, often!   Middle Passage was one that introduced me to the journey most black americans made from Africa to the states.  it was a hard book to read, but one of great importance.  especially as a young person just beginning to learn about the complex and and critically important relationship between white and black americans.

quilts!

i love these women.  they make some of the most amazing quilts i have laid my eyes upon.  while in Alabama a few years ago i saw an exhibit of the quilts of gees bend and since then have desired to make my own crazy quilt.

happy black herstory month!
